Wareham Freemasons
The Lodge of Unity No. 386 recently held its third Initiation Ceremony of the year and what a welcome the new made brother received. Over 40 brothers came together at Wareham Freemasons Hall from far and wide to celebrate his initiation into Dorset Freemasonry.
All the many visitors were warmly greeted and included Parrett and Axe Lodge No. 814, Somerset, The Border Lodge No. 3129 Wiltshire, Lodge of Unity No. 132 Hampshire, Tulse Hill No. 4462, West Sussex plus of course his friends and colleagues from the Travelling Military Masons who were there to support him as he became a mason.
Several Masters from other Dorset lodges were also present, together with our Visiting Officer representing the Provincial Grand Master of Dorset.
Our Master Paul Cady opened the Ceremony and the candidate was admitted in due form and after successfully answering the questions passed the baton to his team. Andrew Orridge who carried out the obligation, sign, token and word; Bertie Backhouse the North East corner; Ian Oughton the Working tools and at very short notice, due to unavoidable absence for one night only Alan Washbourne the Initiate’s Charge. All under the careful eye of the lodge Director of Ceremonies Vernon Henstridge.
Pre drinks followed by a lively, jovial and splendid three course festive board. Our new made member replied to the initiate’s toast with aplomb. Short, precise and heartfelt thanks to his colleagues who had supported him tonight and the warm welcome he had received from everybody. As is tradition in Freemasonry various charitable collections were held primarily for Festival 2025 and for Zetland Court Fete.
